Mill Valley Aware Coalition Meeting

Our May Mill Valley Aware meeting includes a presentation by Ryan and Gary Fedoroff, seasoned professionals working in Marin (and nationally) to address substance use and abuse by teens and to support prevention and education initiatives. A Tam High PTSA representative will share insights from the recent Tam High speaker event, Teen Stress, Wellness and Mental Health: What To Do When A Friend Is In Crisis and share insights from the California Healthy Kids (CHKS) report.

Gary Fedoroff, B.A., CADC II, IDCAC

Founder, Marin Recovery Solutions

Since 2003, Gary has been a staple in Marin County as an adolescent mentor and counselor. His broad experience includes working with and developing programs for at-risk teens in Novato, counseling Marin teens in juvenile drug court through Bay Area Community Resources, and building in-school prevention and intervention programs.

Based on his personal and professional journey with recovery, Gary believes teens have four crucial connection points in their lives: family, self, peers, and school. If one of those connections is unhealthy, teens may struggle and show signs of decompensation.

Together, Gary and Ryan have traveled extensively with the Newport Academy team to help high-risk teens in different affluent areas of the country. From Orange County, CA to Fairfield County, CT, they have built clinical relationships, worked with treatment organizations, and been involved with community organizations to better understand the journey of Marin adolescents. Gary and Ryan live in Mill Valley with their two children, Oliver and Alexa.
